It's a small world, but nothing changes

So I browse forums at work, car related. Anyways, you may have noticed in the news about a car crash in florida, happened a couple days ago. Well it was one of the forum kids. creepy, because he said he was going to find a spot for a high speed run, and everyone was like, well, be careful you know.

So the situation is this: Basically, take 5 (thats right, five) KIDS.. driver 18, passengers of 18, 19, 19, and 20.... put them in a 500hp 2008 M5 (V10)... get them on the runway near john travoltas house.. get the car up to probably 155 no problem.. maybe higher if de-limited.. maybe even 180.. I mean the car can do 211 or something preposterous.. and then the questions start..

The car exited the runway and hit a tree 15ft up from the ground... 200 ft away. The runway was 85ft above the ground level of the tree. Its like bad physics question.

assume:
car has 500hp/potential top speed of 211mph.
car wieghs 4000lbs.
5 occupants, assume 180lbs per occupant
Impact is 15ft up from ground level 85ft below runway surface

So you've got a 70ft fall over 200ft. Thats like a trajectory of 21 degrees or something.

now you all know my math skills sucks, but I think someone ran out of stopping room at 70mph and flew off a cliff.

Garmin is releasing a phone!

Here are the basics so far, as its not on their site, no availability or pricing yet:

Quad band GSM, 3G + HSDPA, 3.5" touchscreen, WiFi, html browser, IM client for multiple networks(pidgin/trillian-esque), boatload of google apps preset, and obviously, GPS in classic garmin form.

Now, I'm just throwing it out there, but I love Garmin. I remember talking to them at interbike, they have some people like us working there.. willing to throw out ideas. Have you seen the Garmin 705? It's all the features of the 305 bike one, but this time with a color screen. It has a miniSD card to load maps. Interacts with powermeters. has real mapping options.

Now I notice that the so-far spec list does not include a camera, but I can see the zoom and capture button right on the case, so thats there. I am betting there will be a geotagging option too, which I am really becoming a big fan of. Its a nice combo of things, I'm using it on the Flickr and its neat. Especially since its combined with google and has sat view...anyways.

I would also imagine a removable media slot - a lot of those garmins have mp3 capability that way.

Damn. They were saying its the iPhone killer. We've already determined many phones did that a while ago.

This one is just cool.

1) What is the Earth's shape?

The Earth is flat. It is shaped in the form of a pentagon, and thus has

2) What is the "middle corner"?

If one was to draw a line from each corner to the centre of the opposing
side of the Earth, the line would intersect in the middle of the Flat
Earth. This place is known as the Middle Corner.

3) Hey, wait a minute, that is not a real corner...

So? The equator of the spherical earthers is an imaginary line as well.
Does this mean that their model does not have a northern and a southern
hemisphere? You cannot count in imaginary numbers, but does that mean
that they do not exist?

4) What about the northern and southern hemisphere?

Spherical-earthist rot. This implies the Earth being a SPHERE, which it
is not. The Earth has, however, an Inner and Outer Ring.

5) Does the "middle corner" prove that 5=6?

Yes.

6) How are continents located on the Flat Earth.

Generally, the "southernmost" continents are on the outside, whereas the
"northern" ones are on the inside.

7) Does this mean that the Middle Corner is at the North Pole?

Not necessarily. It may be anywhere in the northern part of the Earth.

8) What is, then, at the south pole?

The Edge of the World. It is surrounded by a huge mountain range.

9) Does this fit in with the Hollow Earth theory?

Yes. Beneath the Earth, or hanging off the edges, is a land populated by
either green-skinned women or Nazis. All those claiming to have seen
this have misinterpreted it to fit in with the spurious and false
Spherical Earth theory.

10) Did H. P. Lovecraft know about the Flat Earth?

Yes. Read _At the Mountains of Madness_. The choice of the South Pole by
the Old Ones makes more sense with the Flat Earth Theory.

11) What about gravity?

Lies, all lies. There is no gravity, only inertia. The Earth moves
through space like a giant elevator. We do not fall off because we are
kept down by inertia. The Earth has inertia.

12) How does the Earth move through space?

There are two schools of thought: one which states that the Earth is
constantly moving in a straight line, and the other which states that
the Earth is moving in a toroidal shape. There is a popular opinion
which states that the Earth does not move as such, but rather that space
moves around the Earth.

How to hang out hard in Cleveland

So I started some research as to where we want to go for the best night life in cleveland, and the answer appears to be the "warehouse district" Its kind of near the stadium where we found SKATEPARK!!!
Heres a map:

If you look at the addresses, the mostly appear to be within a few blocks around that area.
Also, some of these places look really frigging cool. Look up some of the websites - A couple I looked at were the Spy Lounge or Anatomy, both of which are "ultralounges" (I'm guessing lounge atmosphere with dance music, dance floor, etc.)
As for the area, it seems to be old warehouses/industrial converted into loft apartments and nice city living. We should have no problem getting laid, ha. We should find a hotel near enough that we can walk, or maybe take some sort of back roads. I doubt we'll be dressed to ride over, plus it'll probably be way to cold.

Advertising, cool like

Came across this ad on adviewr.com for the Treo from a while ago. I never saw this before, but it's for a Treo 680 so it had to have been a couple years ago.

I like this ad because: One thing thats cool about it is the color scheme applied to the flickr logo - its the same colors and similar appearance as the Treo logo you see when the phone is booting up. Thats a neat duality that you could only appreciate once you've got the device, or had a chance to play with it at the store or whatever.
In addition - the website, ontreo.com, is still around and its really flipping cool.

Alright, lets talk solidworks 2008.

New interfaces and fun stuff.
For starters, when you load solidworks, it shows a new image every time. Ironically my computer loads it so fast I can't get a screen shot of them. The background scene has been changed, its photorealistic all the time. also, highlighting anything results in a glowing aura of cool.
